The reference used for this coin is the British Museum Catalog on Greek Coins, Thrace.

This coin most probably was struck at Cardia, also spelled Kardia, an important city of the Chersonese. Kardia was originally a colony of Miletos. It was destroyed by Lysimachos in 309 B.C.

Minted at Cherronesos, which quite possibly was the same place as the later Kardia, around 400-350 B.C. This was before ALEXANDER III, THE GREAT controlled the area. Minted under the AEGINETIC STANDARD; which received its name from the Maritime state, situated between the coastlines of Attica and Argolis, and in all probability was the earliest mint in European Greece.
